Methods for lightening dark and porous acne scars

Acne marks can be highly stressful. Also, it gives the skin aged look. Acne marks or scars can be of two types,

1. Dark scars (pigmented scars)

2. Pores

Out of these two, some people will have less number of pores when compared to dark scars. Some people will develop lot of pores. It depends upon their genetic type.

Particularly the pores, since they damage and make the skin little expanded, make the skin less tightened, thus giving an aged look. It often depends upon the size of the pimple or acne. Since the skin gets bulged out at the site of pimple spot, the size of the pimple matters a lot. It determines the size of the pore formed.

So, usually bigger the pimple, more are the chances of getting a bigger pore. It is better to watch the size of the pimple on your face. If you can control the size of your pimple, you can prevent much damage to your skin.

To achieve size reduction of pimples, the following methods can be used.

1. Applying a cold water pad on the pimple so that it shrinks.

3. Applying anti-inflammatory creams - Medical advice is necessary

The objective of these methods is to reduce the size of the pimple as much as possible so that the post-acne-damage to the skin is minimal.

Whatever may be the reasons, acne scars are equally stressful like acne itself. If you see your face like bombed-Baghdad in the mirror, definitely it is highly unacceptable.

So, the treatment should essentially consist of two approaches.

1. To lighten the dark scars

2. To even out the pores and to tighten the skin surface.

Lightening of dark acne scars

For this you can apply a suitable cold cream and a fairness cream or any other antimarks cream alternatively in a day. That means, At bedtime, you can apply cold cream and during the day, you can apply fairness cream or any other cream which is having skin lightening properties. With the help of a good skin lightening cream, it is possible to remove the dark acne scars to unnoticeable levels.

To even out the pores and to tighten the skin surface

This is really a difficult issue. For men, a regular shaving and application of aftershave lotion works out well in improving the appearance of facial skin. It improves the tightening of skin surface. The alcohol in the aftershave lotion acts as an astringent and tightens the skin surface.

For women, it is usually difficult. However, the damage and size of pores also will be very less when compared to men. This can be attributed to their body chemistry involving estrogens.

A skin tightening cream like VICHI’s NORMADERM can be used. It gives the skin a tightened look.

Any good astringent or toner can be used to get the tightened look of skin. But, choose a one which does not provoke acne.

Chemical peeling also can be used to tighten the skin surface.

Dermabrasion is a surgical technique. In this process, the outer skin layer is peeled off evenly by using specialized equipment. However, this is not a permanent cure for acne pores.

Laser treatment also works for some people.

There is no definite methodology works in all the cases. The suitable treatment plan should be chosen after assessing the benefit to risk ratio for an individual.

Also, it is very difficult to get rid of pores formed by acne. So it is better to keep an eye on the size of the pimple and try to control it by using the methodologies mentioned above.

In case of dark scars, usually they get lightened with time even if you do not do anything for that. So do not worry much about all these things!!! Concentrate on your career more!!!
